The COTE Gold Project

The Côté Gold Project is located in the heart of Ontario’s northeastern mining country approximately 130 km southwest of the Timmins, and 200 km northwest of Sudbury, and is operated as a 70:30 Joint Venture between IAMGOLD Corporation and Sumitomo Metal Mining Co., Ltd. (“SMM”).

With strong support from local First Nations and regional stakeholders, the joint venture announced in July 2020 that it would proceed with construction. Construction activities commenced in the third quarter of that year.

Craig MacDougall joined IAMGOLD in February 2012 and is currently the Executive Vice-President, Growth, responsible for corporate development and the company’s global exploration program, with active exploration programs in Canada, South America’s and West Africa. With a career spanning over 30 years of domestic and international mineral exploration, he has risen to hold senior management positions in both senior and junior mining and exploration companies, including 20 years at Noranda-Falconbridge.

Over his career, he has led exploration programs and discovery-oriented teams exploring gold, base metals, and nickel sulfides in Canada, South America, Australia, PNG as well as East and West Africa. Craig holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology with Honours from Mount Allison University in New Brunswick and a Master of Science degree in Earth Sciences from Memorial University in St John’s Newfoundland.
