The Minister of Energy and Mines, Jorge Montero, and the Minister of Economy and Finance, José Salardi, led the Peruvian delegation, which included top executives, mining firms, and key suppliers. On Peru Day, they showcased Peru as an excellent place for global investment and mining exploration. For 2025, there are 84 exploration projects scheduled, with a total investment of US$1,039 million.
Minister Jorge Montero emphasized Peru's dedication to sustainability, noting the use of seawater in mining. Currently, four projects in Ica and Piura utilize this method, and three major projects in Arequipa and Moquegua are expected to implement seawater as a resource by 2030. He also mentioned the revival of metallurgical activities in Peru, thanks to the variety of strategic minerals found in the country's rich polymetallic and copper concentrates.
Minister José Salardi presented a detailed analysis of the Peruvian economy, highlighting a GDP growth between 2% and 3% above the regional average. He highlighted the strong international reserves, inflation control, and responsible public debt levels. He also stressed the importance of public and private investment to sustain growth and aim for a 4% economic expansion by 2025.

The Minister of Energy and Mines, Jorge Montero, opened the Conference of Ministers of Mining of the Americas (CAMMA) 2025, hosted by Peru during PDAC 2025.
He urged his fellow ministers to embrace the challenges and opportunities in the mining sector related to energy transition, the rising need for critical minerals, and the importance of enhancing sustainability and governance in the industry.
CAMMA serves as a vital platform for developing shared strategies to tackle these issues. Thus, he proposed strengthening CAMMA's role as an official political and technical support body.
Additionally, he highlighted the need to exchange knowledge on geological data, technological advancements, mining strategies, and combating illegal mining. This collaboration aims to build capacity among American countries and create opportunities for inclusive growth. A new initiative discussed was promoting Peruvian mining investments internationally.
