Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is extending the public policy that allows certain visitors in Canada to apply for a work permit.
The original public policy came into effect on August 24, 2020, as a temporary measure due to COVID-19. Its objective was to allow eligible foreign nationals with valid temporary resident status (visitors) to apply inland for an employer-specific work permit, regardless of when they arrived in Canada. The policy also allowed them to work while a decision on their work permit application was pending.
Now the public policy is being extended until February 28, 2023. For more information on who can apply for this temporary measure and the requirements to apply for an employer-specific work permit, please visit Canada IRCC - Visitor Work Permits.

World leaders are set to discuss action to tackle climate change at the UN climate summit in Egypt. UN climate summits take place every year and are known as COPs, which stands for "Conference of the Parties". The parties are the attending countries that signed the original UN climate agreement in 1992.
During COP27, the 27th annual UN meeting on climate, the OECD Virtual Pavilion will bring together the main actors and experts to debate and share ideas on the global effort to combat climate change and reach the goals of the Paris Agreement.
Drawing on OECD analysis and data, the pavilion will showcase a range of events and resources on topics including financing the net-zero transition, mitigating GHG in the agriculture and food sector, adapting to climate change, carbon prices, innovation, sustainable mobility, and more.

The Latin American Economic Outlook 2022 (LEO) illustrates the ambitious agenda Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) face to make the green transition an opportunity to achieve a more just and sustainable development model.
The launch of the LEO 2022 will take place live from Sharm El-Sheikh, at the EUROCLIMA+ Pavilion, and will be live-streamed on the OECD COP27 Virtual Pavilion. This report will provide key policy messages and recommendations for the governments of the region as well as inspire debate among experts.
By investing in climate solutions that reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) and keep global heating below 1.5°C, city leaders can mitigate climate breakdown and deliver health benefits, create jobs, and tackle systemic inequality.

The report presents the most recent trends in the labour market demand for digital professionals and skills. It looks at 417 million online job postings in 10 countries over the last decade to illustrate how the digital transition is affecting the labour market.
In the US, for example, online job postings for digital jobs such as software developers, programmers and engineers have grown 24% in the last four years. The demand for social media skills has also spread 14 times faster than for the average skill in the US and the UK.
The evidence contained in this report is key for governments to design targeted retraining and upskilling policies, and for workers to fully benefit from the digital transition.

On October 19, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru, Proinversion, and EY Peru presented the Investment Guide for Infrastructure Projects in Peru 2022/2023. The guide offers clear, up-to-date information on the country's construction sector with the goal of promoting existing investment opportunities in a range of infrastructure projects planned for the coming years.
Infrastructure is the cornerstone of development and is closely tied to a clear multiplier effect on the economy. According to the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) every dollar spent on infrastructure has the potential to produce two dollars in increased Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
The guide offers detailed information on important public infrastructure project contracting methods in Peru -public-private partnerships, works for taxes, and government-to-government agreements- as well as a general description of the main legal, tax, labor, environmental, and customs issues of interest to potential investors looking at investing in infrastructure in Peru.
