A journey straight to the heart of Peru took place last October 21 at Harpers Landing Restaurant in the city of Oakville.
"Taste of Peru" was a captivating Peruvian celebration with music, dancers, pisco cocktails, quinoa beer tastings and culinary wonders of the Peruvian gastronomy. Every dish on the menu embarked the Diners on a delicious adventure of unique flavors of the exceptional Peruvian cuisine, which today has conquered the palates of the world.
That night, the cocktail presented to the diners was inspired by a Peruvian classic: the Pisco Sour. The deconstructed spin combined Sapaq pisco with fresh lemon juice, maca and elderflower liqueur, and vanilla syrup. It was completed with lime white and Moscato meringue, lime zest and Peruvian Chuncho bitters, served with hard-boiled quail egg.

"Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming our economy and being used to tackle some of our toughest challenges, like fighting cancer, improving food production and reducing energy consumption. What's more, Canadian researchers and businesses are at the forefront of this transformation."
"AI systems use data to automate complex tasks and sometimes to make decisions or predictions about people. While these systems can be beneficial, they can also have significant impacts on Canadians, especially marginalized communities."
"The proposed Artificial Intelligence and Data Act (AIDA), introduced as part of the Digital Charter Implementation Act, 2022, would set the foundation for the responsible design, development and deployment of AI systems that impact the lives of Canadians."
"The Act would ensure that AI systems deployed in Canada are safe and non-discriminatory and would hold businesses accountable for how they develop and use these technologies."

“From the last week of August, a host of internet giants – including Meta’s Facebook and Instagram platforms, Apple's Online App Store, and a handful of Google services – will face new obligations in the EU, including preventing harmful content from spreading, banning or limiting certain user-targeting practices, and sharing some internal data with regulators and associated researchers.”
“Now, just as the rules come into effect, research published lately by nonprofit Eko shows Facebook was still approving online ads containing harmful content.
The organization submitted 13 ads containing harmful content for approval, including one inciting violence against immigrants and another calling for the assassination of a prominent Member of the European Parliament (MEP).”
"The EU is seen as the global leader in tech regulation, with more wide-ranging pieces of legislation – such as the Digital Markets Act and the AI Act – on the way. The bloc’s success in implementing such laws will influence the introduction of similar rules around the world.
But researchers have raised questions over whether these companies have done enough to meet lawmakers’ expectations."
To learn more about the Stress Tests being run to ensure Facebook and other Big Tech comply with content moderation, user privacy and transparency continue reading this article from Reuters and the DSA page itself.
