CUSO International work at a glance
By: Cuso International – Toronto
Cuso International is a Canadian charity working with local partners around the world to advance gender equality and social inclusion, improve economic resilience, and deliver progress on climate action. Our work in Peru includes education around gender-based violence and femicide prevention. In Lima, working with our partner CENCA (El Instituto de Desarollo Urbano) our Mujeres Unidas por la Seguridad Alimentaria y Ambiental (MUSA) Common Pot project has helped establish more than 2,500 community kitchens, feeding nearly 250,000 families.
Cuso International’s Women’s Voice and Leadership project has worked directly with 3,702 women across Peru and in 2021-22 saw 1,288 women participate in advocacy campaigns in their regions. This work supports the LGBTQI+ community, and Indigenous, Afro, and rural women, as well as providing education for girls and adolescents with a focus on sexual and reproductive health. Our livelihood programs, underway in several regions, are designed to support business training for marginalized groups.
Each year, we amplify our impact by mobilizing hundreds of professionals who volunteer their time and provide their knowledge. To learn more about volunteering with us, please visit Become a Volunteer.
