ANNIE VILLARAN

Annie is a dedicated entrepreneur who works at the Peruvian Canadian Chamber of Commerce and is also a mother. She makes the seemingly impossible busy life of a working mom seem rewarding and possible, of course, not without her own set of challenges. Annie is a person with a great sense of camaraderie, so she cares about giving back to her community, which led her to work with other Peruvians at the PCCC.

What is your favorite memory of your mom?

My mom had always been a strong woman, an enterpriser, having her own businesses. Joining her in those special visits to her businesses was one of my most dear memories.

What message would you give your children, to follow in their lives?

I would like to leave my children with the knowledge that, in this life, you have to work hard and put in the effort along with a lot of responsibility to get what you want to accomplish.

What message would you give our generation?

Learn to be happy! As time progresses we tend to fit in being happy, with material products. When, in fact, to be truly happy you just need to enjoy the simple things in life such as parents, school, and many more great examples.

Did being a mom ever get in the way of your career aspirations?

Being a mom requires sacrifice and responsibility, but it is a rewarding experience when you see them grow up. Yes, sometimes it does get in the way, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

SANDRA BARRETO

Sandra is a fantastic worker at the PCCC. She was born in Peru, that is why she always tries to help her country, even if she is not physically in Peru. She is focused on improving business connections.

How do you balance your work while having to take care of your children at home?

Nowadays it is easier since my son is 28 years old; however, previously it meant a challenge, mainly because of the language, but we were able to overcome it together. Also, the PCCC has always given me the flexibility I needed.

If you could describe your job in 3 words, what would they be and why?

Connections: You can meet more people, and expand your networking. Service: The support given to Peruvian and Canadian people and companies. Union: It has been shown in the chamber group, the option to work with the chamber, the consulate, and the companies.

How would you promote the business network between Peru and Canada?

Networking with the different companies that are part of the PCCC, given that each of these, can be substantially enhanced.

What is your role in the Canadian-Peruvian Chamber of Commerce?

I have the charge of Board of directors, treasurer, and chair of agricultural imports.
