Commemorating Earth Day – conservation of the Amazon
United for a green world and healthy ecosystems, this April 22nd the world celebrated Earth Day with the goal of recognizing her as our home and promoting nature’s harmony. It’s because of this occasion that Peruvian singer-songwriter Jessyca Sarango presented her new single Our Place, dedicated to the conservation of the Amazon and hoping to reach the hearts of all the people who fight day by day to protect the Earth and encourage others to join this transcendental cause.
“I wrote this song 13 years ago and with it, I was able to combine my two biggest passions and driving forces in life: music, and love for the planet. Every single one of my projects, every single one of my songs, they show me that the power of music is infinite and that the message I can send through it can move the hearts and consciences of others”, comments the singer.
For her part, Tatiana Espinosa, CEO of ARBIO Perú (a Peruvian non-profit organization founded in Madre de Dios to protect the Amazon rainforest) mentioned they are incredibly happy to be able to count on the support of this singer, who joins the fight for the protection of the forests and their biodiversity – a grueling task Tatiana has been carrying through for over 10 years now in the rainforest of Madre de Dios.
This date of celebration for the Earth looks to find a just equilibrium between the social, economic, and environmental necessities of both the current and future generations. According to the ONU, the alteration of the climate, the loss of biodiversity, and the contamination are a threat to our viability as a species. To create a sustainable future we must tackle these three emergencies in an integral manner, and understand that we can no longer postpone the transformation of our production and consumption systems.
The song had been kept secret until the perfect moment to make it public was found. “This year came the opportunity to team up with fellow humans, marvelous beings of light who’ve lent their energy to mine to encourage people and companies to join us and protect millenary trees in threat of illegal logging that resides in the rainforest of ARBIO Perú – the ones leading the example in the conservation of the Amazon”, stated the singer.
