Peru inaugurated its first Distribution Center in Toronto, Canada, with 38 new products. The Center, which will facilitate the access of Peruvian products into the Canadian market, will handle at first products from six exporters, informed Peru Export and Tourism Promotion Agency (PROMPERU).

Participating Peruvian exporters were selected after a screening and adaptation process to meet the Canadian market requirements carried out by PROMPERU Canada. Among the companies that decided to bet on this market are IncaSur, Siagro Export, Candela, Fructus Terrum, Amazon Andes and L&P Laurie & Pujalt.

Thanks to the Center, products such as Maras salt, nutritional shakes, quinoa pop, and chestnut and Sancha Inchi oil will be available to Canadian buyers and consumers. Products under the Superfoods Peru brand hope to make their way in this market and motivate more Peruvian companies to increase their share in a market that appreciates sustainability and nutritional value of the products Canadians consume.

This project shows the way for Peruvian SMEs to position themselves in the Canadian market, making synergies that reduce logistic costs and facilitate their commercialization. The next step would be to establish a second distribution center in 2021.

The importing company, Miski Organics, will distribute the products through its different commercial platforms that include the traditional B2B channel but also e-commerce platforms and Amazon marketplace.

Mariella Irivarren, director of Miski Organics, said that the quality of Peruvian products is well recognized by Canadian consumers and that they expect to replenish orders and even increase products and suppliers.

The first container, to be sent by the company, contains products with a FOB value of more than $38,000.

This activity is part of the strategy of business internationalization and market diversification for the Peruvian exportable offer promoted by PROMPERÚ. We hope to continue supporting Peruvian exporters with innovative ideas to promote the entry of their products to the most demanding markets in the world.
