Bicentennial Innovators Award in Fisheries and Aquaculture will recognize successful initiatives in five categories
With only a few months to the celebration of 200 years of Independence and republican life in Peru, the call for the Bicentennial Innovators Award in Fisheries and Aquaculture was presented; an event organized by the National Program for Innovation in Fisheries and Aquaculture.
With only a few months to the celebration of 200 years of Independence and republican life in Peru, the call for the Bicentennial Innovators Award in Fisheries and Aquaculture was presented; an event organized by the National Program for Innovation in Fisheries and Aquaculture, (PNIPA), attached to the Ministry of Production (#PRODUCE).
The Minister of Production, José Luis Chicoma said that this award seeks to value "initiatives that are contributing to promote innovation, inclusion and competitiveness in the ecosystem, recognizing that the productive apparatus is competitive in both fishing and sustainable aquaculture," he said.
In her turn, Laura Martínez Silva, executive director of the Special Project for the Bicentennial of the Independence of Peru, highlighted this important initiative. “Despite so many complexities due to the pandemic, I recognize this work of men, women and institutions that contribute to the development, social, economic and environmental from innovation in fishing and aquaculture, since it represents a hope for life and feeding".
For his part, Juan José Miranda from #BancoMundial welcomed that the Fisheries and Aquaculture sector recognizes the importance of the innovation agenda in the fisheries and aquaculture sector. “This initiative will show the work done by thousands of innovators in the country. From public sector researchers, academics, private companies, representatives of organizations, civil society, fishermen's association and all the actors of the innovation, fishing and aquaculture system that is highly variable and multiple in the country ”, he highlighted.
The event will also feature the participation of the outstanding scientist Marino Morikawa, an innovator in environmental technology and a member of the qualifying jury for the Innovators of the Bicentennial Award. "I congratulate the PNIPA for this distinction, which will not only help in the continuous improvement of the sector but also promote the talent and capacity of the young people who need it most due to this problem generated as a result of the pandemic," he said.
Finally, within the framework of this important event, Rosa Huasasquiche, Commercial Manager of Coraqua Peru de Puno highlighted the valuable support they receive from PNIPA in the production of fingerlings at more than 4500 meters above sea level, inviting everyone to participate in this initiative.
Information for participants:
- The reception of proposals begins on April 20 and ends on May 23.
- Five categories will be recognized: environmental, social and inclusive, technological, commercial and health innovation.
