Mining Vision of Peru to 2030
Government created "RIMAY": Center for Convergence and Good Mining-Energy Practices
The President of Peru, Martín Vizcarra, affirmed that this initiative is a space for the State, the private sector and civil society to dialogue with respect to the activities carried out in the mining-energy sector.
"This conversation is important. We require convergence of good practices. We have seen mining projects that have ended successfully, but not all have finished the same. There are some projects that have been trapped in the process because there has been a lack of space to analyze them, and thus support them with knowledge of them, "said Vizcarra.
He also highlighted the importance of mining investments in the national economy, because, as detailed in the last Message to the Nation, mining projects currently underway exceed 15 billion dollars.
For his part, the Minister of Energy and Mines, Francisco Ísmodes, said that this center is a necessary space to share knowledge, experiences and make synergies, which will be a product of the dialogue between the parties regarding the mining-energy sector.
In this regard, he stressed the need to strengthen these sectors and achieve an activity that meets legal standards, good social practices and environmental standards.
"We seek to generate consensus with proposals of short, medium and long term. We seek to build a consensual vision of mining and the hydrocarbon sector in our country" he said.
